Latest Nottingham Forest news: Sevilla are apparently willing to return Gonzalo Montiel from his loan at Nottingham Forest six months sooner than anticipated due to ‘interest’ from another club, according to reports in Spain.
The full-back joined the City Ground on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window, but he has yet to play regularly for the team.
The 26-year-old has only appeared four times in the Premier League this season and has not played since the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in October. The defender returned to the bench against Tottenham for the first time in four games, but he was an unused substitute.
According to Sevilla ABC, the player’s lack of minutes has been a concern for him, especially since he finalized the deal to Forest since he was ‘dissatisfied’ with his substitute role at his original club. According to the article, this is one of the reasons why the loan is expected to be ‘broken’ when the January transfer window opens.
Flamengo and Sevilla are rumored to be interested in Montiel, but the final decision appears to be in the hands of new Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
If Montiel is given more playing time in the following weeks, the situation may alter and he may stay at the club as initially anticipated.
With some players of the squad, the advent of the Portuguese manager seemed to have already wiped the slate clean. Nuno’s first training session features both Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna, who had not been completely working alongside their colleagues under former boss Steve Cooper.
