According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United is one of four clubs that have approached Liverpool about signing Fabio Carvalho.
The Italian writer said in his Daily Briefing on Sunday (7 January) that the 21-year-old winger’s agents will be advised on the Whites’ interest, as well as that of Premier League club Wolves and Championship clubs Hull City and Southampton.
He went on to say that game time will be “crucial” for the Reds in deciding where to loan the Portuguese U-21 international, who previously gained promotion from the second division with Fulham after being recalled from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig this summer window.
“There are multiple clubs in the race for Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho,” Romano stated. “Wolves, Hull City, Leeds United, and Southampton are all interested in him.”
“After struggling to play at RB Leipzig and being recalled, game time will be critical for Liverpool to make the decision.”
“Liverpool will consult with Fabio’s agents before making a decision.” Southampton are pushing hard for this one, but no decision has been made.”
Waiting is tense.
Leeds will have to wait to see if they were successful in their loan bid for Carvalho, who can play wide or in an offensive midfield position.
Daniel Farke is looking to bolster his squad for the second half of the season in order to field a strong side capable of challenging for a top-two finish.
However, they will face competition from other clubs, with Wolves giving the possibility to play in the Premier League.
Southampton and Hull City are both vying for promotion to the Premier League with the Whites, so it would be a setback if either of those clubs were able to recruit him.
Farke, on the other hand, should be convinced that his team is an appealing prospect for the Portuguese, who would undoubtedly add additional quality in the attacking third.
In unrelated Leeds United news, the club may contact a player’s agency in order to finalize their first January move.
