Former Sunderland loanee Amad Diallo has issued a brief comment on social media following reports of a return to the North East.

Nobody will forget Amad Diallo’s loan term at Sunderland anytime soon, that’s how outstanding he was.

The kid thrived on loan from Manchester United under Tony Mowbray as the Black Cats made the playoffs.

With the Ivorian unable to play many minutes in the Premier League, there was speculation that another loan term was possible.

It has to be noted that with Michael Beale in command, a potential trade seemed less plausible than it could have been.

Diallo would be an ideal compliment to Jack Clarke, who has been on fire this season, and Patrick Roberts, who plays on the opposite wing.

However, based on the most recent news in this transfer story, a return to the Stadium of Light does not appear to be in the cards.

Amad Diallo submits a loan statement

This week, CentreDevils posted and then deleted a report on Twitter, to which Diallo responded.

“Apologies if the post was misunderstood,” the account has since posted. We’re not suggesting you’ll be leaving. We’re simply presenting words from a former Premier League player who claimed a Championship club would be interested in signing you. That is why the word ‘tipped’ was employed.”

It is safe to assume that the account apologized to the Ivorian, but what was his reaction to the report that linked him away?

“Stop lying, mate!” yelled the young assailant.

This would lead you to assume that any rumors tying Diallo to a return to Sunderland are incorrect and that no such move is taking place. This will be disappointing for fans who had hoped for a loan move in January.

According to FotMob, he scored 14 goals in 39 Championship games during his first loan spell with the Black Cats in 2022/23.

Since then, he has only made one Premier League appearance, a loss to Nottingham Forest. These were his first minutes of the season, but he hasn’t appeared since.

Having said that, it appears that a loan move is feasible this summer, with a return to Sunderland making sense. Mowbray is presently at Birmingham City, and there have been reports tying him to the Blues.

Despite a shortage of minutes, it appears that the season will be spent with Manchester United. With this declaration, it appears that his future at Old Trafford is secure.
