According to reports, West Ham are interested in signing Jack Clarke, but Sunderland will need to receive “an offer they can’t refuse” before considering a January transfer.
Clarke has scored 12 goals in 26 Championship outings this season.
He’s piqued the curiosity of several Premier League clubs, with West Ham at the top of the list.
The Hammers are interested in Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn, according to the Telegraph.
Florian Plettenberg previously stated that David Moyes is not interested in signing the latter, but according to this new report, he is a possibility due to an injury situation at the London Stadium.
West Ham are reportedly ‘weighing bids for both players but expect to recruit only one new forward this season,’ according to the source.
Danny Ings of the Irons has been linked with a move away, but Moyes is unlikely to let him go with Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio both injured.
Lucas Paqueta has joined them on the injured list, while Mohammed Kudus is in Ghana for the African Cup of Nations.
Transfer analyst Keith Downie claimed on Sky Sports News that Sunderland will only consider trading Clarke if they receive “an offer they can’t refuse.”
“I think it’s more likely this summer,” remarked Downie. “The player has a lot of interest.”
“West Ham United are interested.” There are a couple of other clubs who are interested. I believe there is interest from both Germany and France, as well as a couple of Premier League clubs.
“Sunderland would be looking to make a profit.” I don’t think he’ll leave for less than £15 million.
“Given Sunderland’s position in the Championship, they have a chance of snatching a play-off spot and returning to the Premier League; I believe they can only do so with Jack Clarke; he’s their best player, and they will want to get a full season out of him.”
“It would take an irresistible offer in January.”
“I believe Southampton and Leicester have looked at him, as have Everton.”
“Jack Clarke has a plethora of suitors.” I believe he will relocate, but I believe it will be in the summer rather than this month.”
