You won’t believe what one NFL Network analyst said about the Kansas City Chiefs defense.
The NFL playoffs began with two games yesterday. The Kansas City Chiefs easily trounced the Miami Dolphins last night. Of course, the NFL Network reacted to the earlier results with their typical programming. However, NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones-Drew couldn’t get enough of anchor Chris Rose’s remark.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Defense
The Chiefs defeated the Dolphins 26-7 in overtime. Kansas City’s defense clearly put on a show, suppressing an explosive Miami offense. Chris Rose was impressed with the defense and thought it was an indication that the Chiefs still had a chance in the playoffs. However, he should have considered how to convey this before saying what he did.
Rose began discussing the Kansas City defense with Jones-Drew. He then asked Jones about it, quoting:
“Isn’t this by far the best defense Patrick Mahomes has ever had?” Is it conceivable for them to ride the D?” -Christopher Rose
Reaction of Maurice Jones-Drew
Jones-Drew had to pause for a few moments to ensure Rose understood what he had just said. He did it in the most amusing way conceivable. Jones-Drew remained silent for some seconds, staring at Rose until he corrected himself. Rose finally confirmed his remark a few tense seconds later:
“…The defense…” -Christopher Rose
Jones-Drew felt sure that Rose understood what he said after that. He ended the awkwardness by just saying “ok” before answering Rose’s query.
Fans agreed that they couldn’t believe what they had just heard. The fan who shared the video at the link above captioned it as follows:
“I apologize. I can’t stop myself.”
Chris Rose’s Response
Chris Rose did have a little fun with this after the show ended. Shortly after this comment, he was able to make fun of himself on X/Twitter. He tweeted a photo of himself copying Jones-Drew’s big gaze last night. He tagged Maurice Jones-Drew and captioned the photo as follows:
“You’ll get this look if you leave your dude hanging on set.”

Rose’s photo and comment were retweeted by Maurice Jones-Drew. In the end, it made for a good laugh as the Chiefs await word on whether Patrick Mahomes will have to play in his first road playoff game next week.
