Amad Diallo has turned to social media to dispel rumors of a move to Middlesbrough.
Amad Diallo has dismissed speculation that he could join Sunderland’s North East rivals Middlesbrough.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Boro manager Michael Carrick was planning to utilize his ‘connections’ at Manchester United to beat Sunderland to the loan signing of Amad during the January transfer window.
It had also been suggested that Middlesbrough were in pole position to sign Amad because they were willing to offer a greater financial package to Manchester United than Sunderland.

However, the player was eager to dispel the rumors, sending a direct message to the Sunderland News & Banter fan page to clarify the situation and publish proof of the conversation online.
Amad wrote on the supporters’ page, “Hi mate, it’s AMAD.” The reports of a loan to Boro are not true. If I had to return on loan to the Championship, I would choose Sunderland over anywhere else. Amad then shared a photo on his Instagram account of himself playing for the Wearsiders last season.
Amad, 21, impressed on loan at Sunderland last season, scoring 14 Championship goals, and the Black Cats were among numerous clubs monitoring the player’s position this summer. That was before Amad suffered a severe knee injury in preseason, forcing him to miss the first part of the season.
Amad, who joined Manchester United for approximately £34 million, returned to ten Hag’s squad to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League earlier this month and was named to the bench.
