Manchester United are apparently hoping to keep winger Amad Diallo, amid interest from Middlesbrough and Southampton.
According to Mail Online, Middlesbrough have requested a loan for the highly rated Ivorian. However, according to the report, Manchester United wants to keep the 21-year-old.
Diallo had been sidelined this season due to injury, but he returned from an extended layoff to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. After struggling for minutes early in his Manchester United career, a loan spell at Sunderland last season boosted his status significantly.
According to reporter Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, Southampton has also looked into Diallo, and he claims Middlesbrough is the frontrunner to sign him.
Boro manager Michael Carrick has a deep connection to Manchester United, having played for and coached the club.
However, if the Red Devils are serious about keeping Diallo, they may need to seek elsewhere.
Middlesbrough has added two players in the current transfer window: Finn Azaz from Aston Villa and Luke Ayling on loan from Leeds.
