The Newcastle United defender is on loan to Swansea City in the Championship.
Harrison Ashby, Newcastle United’s right-back, is set to miss another season after suffering a new injury while on loan at Swansea.
The 22-year-old missed 10 games in late November and early January due to a hamstring injury, prompting him to return to Tyneside for treatment.
Ashby will be absent for the next few weeks, according to manager Luke Williams. He explained, “He has a muscular condition, so he will be out for a few weeks. We won’t be able to put an exact time on it yet.”
Newcastle bought Ashby from West Ham United in January 2022, and he was expected to be a long-term replacement for Kieran Trippier, but that may have changed with Tino Livramento’s £32 million signing in the summer.
Ashby has yet to make a competitive appearance for United, however he did play in preseason. He scored in a 2-1 win over Rangers before playing in the Premier League Summer Series against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.
His future will be reevaluated when he returns from Wales this summer.
