Ousmane Dembele, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker and World Cup winner, has acknowledged to watching all of Europe’s leagues, notably the Championship and Sunderland.
The winger has spoken with Le Parisien, as recounted by SO FOOT, on his love of football and his specific focus on the Championship side.
The Frenchman has been with PSG since August of last year, when he joined from Barcelona for €50 million, marking his return to his hometown after starting out at Rennes.
The emphasis is on returning to his best form after a few injury-plagued years in Catalunya, where he was never able to live up to the promise he demonstrated at Borussia Dortmund and even Rennes.
Much has been published about the 26-year-old, particularly his love of video games, and Le Parisien adds to that by stating that he is a huge fan of Football Manager, a prominent managing simulation game.
And it appears that his passion for the game has driven him to watch football all over the world, especially in the Championship, where Sunderland are the focus due to a personal link.
“I watch practically all the championships: France, Spain, Italy, England, Germany,” he went on to say.
“Even the English D2, especially Sunderland because I know the owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus. There, I saw almost all the CAN matches. There are days, I attack the English championship at 1 p.m., and at 9 p.m., I switch to Spain.”
