The latest transfer rumors from Newcastle United as the club prepares for the summer transfer season.
Newcastle United are allegedly preparing to renew their interest in Juventus and Italy winger Federico Chiesa during the summer transfer season.
The Magpies were extensively connected with a move for the 26-year-old last summer, as they sought to strengthen Eddie Howe’s attacking ranks ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League. However, a successful £32 million transfer for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes put a short halt to any interest in Chiesa.
The winger did speak out about the talk linking him with a move to the Premier League, telling the Italian press: “I’m delighted with how I finished; it was a really difficult year for me. I’m only thinking about the holidays right now, but I’ll start preparing for next season with the summer training camp. Reopening with me? We’ll see; I’m at Juventus and thinking about Juventus.”
With Newcastle still looking to increase their options in a variety of areas at the conclusion of the season, one Italian report suggests the Magpies hierarchy may be given another chance to sign Chiesa as Juventus considers selling one of their key assets. According to Italian source Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A giants have ‘doubts’ about the 44-times capped Italian international and may let Chiesa to leave in the summer when his current deal expires.
Newcastle are not the only club interested in Chiesa, who has 28 goals and 22 assists in his four years at Juventus. According to rumors, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are all following the situation as the Serie A club makes a major decision on the winger’s future.
