Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Saturday against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium, following their Champions League match away to FC Porto.

Anthony Taylor will serve as the fourth official, with Peter Bankes on VAR and assistant VAR Lee Betts.

Following the circumstances of the reverse matchup at St. James’ Park, the officiating of Arsenal’s encounter versus Newcastle this weekend will be of particular interest.

Bruno Guimaraes was also fortunate not to be sent out early in the game for an arm in Jorginho’s face, and Newcastle were upset that Kai Havertz escaped with a potential red card of his own.

Paul Tierney has refereed 18 Arsenal games in the past, with seven victories and six defeats. However, this will be his first encounter between Arsenal and Newcastle.

We can only hope that Saturday’s game does not generate as much controversy as the previous one.
