Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner era begins this Saturday, when they host relegation candidates Burnley at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner will be anxious to start his Crystal Palace career with three points this weekend, and he has a terrific opportunity to do it against Burnley.

There isn’t much more to wait till Glasner goes out into Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, presumably to a tremendous applause.

Hopes are high, and they’re just rising higher after Glasner promised Palace fans a lot of goals in an interview on Thursday.

Now, Paul Merson has spoken out about how Palace will fare this weekend. Here’s his prediction.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace Prediction and Betting Tips

Paul Merson predicts Crystal Palace vs Fulham

Merson predicted Glasner’s Premier League debut in his weekly column for SportsKeeda.

He wrote, “This is a huge game. Crystal Palace got a good result against Everton, and games like these are their bread and butter. If they win this game, they will have four points from two matches. They have a home game this weekend, and I would be very concerned if they lose.

“Burnley has an upset in them. I’ve seen them go to places like Nottingham Forest and achieve results; it’s not beyond them. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, has a new management and a positive vibe, which could help them go over the finish line.”

Merson then concluded by predicting a 2-0 home victory for Palace, which would be extremely significant for the Austrian manager on his first matchday, where we want to see immediate improvement.

Where will Palace be in the table with a win on Saturday?

With a win on Saturday, Palace will move up to 28 points, potentially overtaking Brentford and tying Bournemouth in 13th, only behind on goal differential unless Palace scores three or more.

Bournemouth will then face Manchester City on Saturday evening, which could either drop Palace to 14th or keep them at 13th.

Glasner will therefore have to wait until Monday night to discover where he will play next week, with Brentford having the opportunity to reclaim their position by facing West Ham.

Three points are critical for Palace to enter this group rather than being dragged toward Everton and Luton in the league.
