The most recent news ahead of Southampton’s match against Sunderland.
Southampton have issued a statement before of their Championship clash with Sunderland.
The Black Cats will travel to St Mary’s for the rematch on Saturday, while Southampton have announced that the game will go ahead after a big fire in nearby industrial premises forced Wednesday’s match against Preston to be postponed. Martin’s team is still fourth in the Championship table after a 4-3 win over Birmingham last weekend, while Sunderland will be looking to snap a five-match losing streak.
The Southampton statement read: “We’re really excited to welcome you back to St Mary’s on Saturday for our game against Sunderland. We’ve been working hard with local authorities and emergency services to ensure that the game can go ahead; but, you’ll notice some minor adjustments surrounding the stadium as a result of the fire in the neighboring industrial buildings.
“Due to its proximity to the fire site, the Family Zone outside the stadium will be closed, but you are invited to participate in the fun activities in the Kingsland area.
“While the Stadium Store remains open, with a fantastic 50% off this season’s clothing and training wear, some areas in the South Car Park will be closed, so please follow the signage in that area to stay safe and away from any damaged areas.
“We’ve also been informed that typical matchday road closures will be in place, so please allow extra time to arrive and access the stadium safely. We’d want to thank everyone who has worked hard to prepare the stadium for tomorrow, as well as all of our fans who have shown their support. “See you tomorrow!”
