Lewis Hamilton has been cautioned ahead of his duel against future Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in 2025.
Giancarlo Fisichella, a former Ferrari driver, feels Lewis Hamilton would face a ‘difficult’ battle in matching Charles Leclerc when he joins the Scuderia in 2025. The seven-time world champion has not won a Grand Prix since the end of 2021, but he thinks his fairytale late-career transfer can end that streak.

Hamilton has a future teammate in Leclerc, who is one of the best qualifiers in modern F1 history, and the two have already competed in several wheel-to-wheel clashes in recent years. If the famous Brit sought a comfortable end to his glittering F1 career, teaming up with the Monegasque driver was not the best option.

“It’s going to be tough,” Fisichella told Express Sport, in collaboration with BetIdeas.com. “They are two great and quick drivers, especially in qualifying. Charles is consistently on top; he has won numerous pole positions. Charles has been a member of the team for several years, therefore Lewis will have a difficult time beating him.

“I believe he needs to focus on it… [Have] concentration I spent a lot of time with the mechanics at the facility in Maranello. But Lewis will have a simple time integrating into the squad since the culture in Ferrari is fantastic and the people are so friendly that you feel right at home.”

Hamilton can gain confidence from his recent bouts with George Russell. His fellow Brit is one of the most highly regarded drivers on the grid, but after a season of experimenting in the first year of the ground-effect era in 2022, he established his dominance in the team-mate struggle.

When the chequered flag flew in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2023, Hamilton had finished third in the Drivers’ Championship standings, with Russell sitting in eighth place, 59 points behind his teammate.
