Durham’s first-team coach, Claire Ditchburn, thought her side was unlucky to lose to Charlton Athletic at Maiden Castle this afternoon.
In a game with little chances, the Wildcats lost 1-0, with Elisha N’Dow scoring the only goal early in the first half.
Durham matched The Addicks for the entire 90 minutes, and first-team head coach Ditchburn admitted it was difficult to believe her side came away with nothing.

“We’re walking away scratching our heads, wondering how we didn’t score ourselves,” Ditchburn told the media after the match. “It was very tight.

“It was a game with few clear-cut chances, but we probably created enough to score. “A set play [goal] shows how tight it was.”

Durham is still waiting for their first win of 2024, but Ditchburn was pleased with her team’s performance in their most recent match.

She stated, “Beth [Hepple] has had one tipped onto the top of the bar, Lily [Crosthwaite] has had one cleared off the line, so we’ve done absolutely everything.”

“It’s difficult to be too disappointed with the girls. I’m very disappointed for them because I don’t believe they deserved to lose that today.”

Durham return to action next Sunday, traveling to Sunderland for the A690 derby.
