Todd Bowles enjoys practicing against other teams during training camp, and the tradition will continue this year.
Pending league approval, the Bucs will travel to Jacksonville in August for two sessions with the Jaguars before playing a preseason game against them. Tampa Bay also intends to host the Dolphins for many workouts at One Buc Palace before their preseason matchup in Tampa.
Dates for games and practices have not been confirmed.
Last year, the Bucs headed to the Jets for two days of preseason sessions, but the Jets canceled the second day, leaving the Bucs scrambling for a venue to practice. They ended up going to the Giants’ facilities for a brief walk-through on a damp field. Tampa Bay did not organize joint practices with any other clubs.
Potentially good news for the average Bucs fan: If the Bucs do not open training camp sessions in Tampa to individuals who are not members of a special interest group or have season tickets, the Jaguars do, and their facility has rather nice sightlines.
