Jose Mourinho has declared that he is “ready” to return to management, amid reports of interest from Newcastle United.

NewcastleWorld knows that Toon chiefs are firmly behind Eddie Howe, but this hasn’t stopped outlets from associating the Magpies with the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur manager. Mourinho was fired by Roma in January, sparking talk about a potential Newcastle transfer.

The Portuguese strategist refers to himself as a “little Magpie” in reference to his Sir Bobby Robson links. He worked as the Toon legend’s interpreter (and then assistant) for Sporting Lisbon, Porto, and Barcelona.

Mourinho was also seen greeting Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this month. Speaking with Fabrizio Romano, the 61-year-old expressed his wish to return to the field.

“Cristiano opened the door in terms of believing that it is possible to be there (in Saudi Arabia) and live there,” Mourinho remarked at the time. “To enjoy a country’s development while it strives to be something different. Football is a love among Saudis that has yet to be cultivated.

“When I got offers from Saudi Arabia, they were financially appealing, but Roma was more essential due to their European football and devotion. If you ask me in the future, experience has taught me to never say never; I’m ready to start over.

“Sometimes when you leave a club, you feel like you need to sit, contemplate, and analyze everything. But in this situation, one day after leaving, I was ready to leave. I feel powerful, good, and I enjoy my work. I’m really prepared. But I do not want to make the wrong decision.
