Newcastle United bought Yankuba Minteh from Danish side Odense Boldklub last summer, offering him a deal until 2028.
The winger is presently on loan at Feyenoord, where he has impressed this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting four times in 32 appearances. This included a brace and an assist in the Eredivisie team’s overwhelming 6-0 victory over Ajax on Sunday.
Following the match, the Newcastle player spoke with ESPN’s Hans Kraay Jr., and his comments are reported by Feyenoord Pings.
Kraay Jr informed the 19-year-old that his contract with the Magpies expires in 2028, but the latter stated that he “knows nothing about it”.
The journalist laughed and asked Minteh if he was unaware of his contract position at Newcastle. In response, the Gambia international discussed the prospect of extending his time at Feyenoord.
“No. My concentration is here. “I am a Newcastle player, but I currently play for Feyenoord,” Minteh explained.
“Do I want to play for Feyenoord next season? I do not know. Feyenoord is a fantastic club, and if given the possibility, I would like to stay, but that relies on Newcastle United’s decision.”
The Dutch club is under no obligation to make Newcastle’s loan arrangement permanent.
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot revealed a month ago that Eddie Howe’s team will have to decide on the attacker’s future in the summer, and Minteh has now confirmed this.
