Barkley signed with the Eagles as a free agent last month.
The signing of Saquon Barkley by the Philadelphia Eagles was one of the most high-profile moves of the initial wave of free agency.
After last season’s campaign stalled in the final weeks, the Eagles moved quickly to bring in the veteran running back, who signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with their arch rivals the New York Giants.
While Giants supporters were outraged to see one of their great players join a divisional rival, Barkley was not the first Giant to do so this offseason; wide receiver Parris Campbell also made the same move.
Campbell, therefore, has firsthand experience of what Barkley can bring to the Eagles and has compared the 27-year-old to the San Francisco 49ers’ NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Christian McCaffrey.
“I think he’s going to show people why he’s the best running back in the league,” Campbell told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I understand there’s a lot of debate between him and Christian McCaffrey. And don’t get me wrong: Christian McCaffrey is by far one of the league’s best running backs.
“But seeing Saquon up close and personal, being in the same locker room, on the same team, man, he’s a different kid on the field, to be honest. And running behind that offensive line, I believe it will be quite terrifying for defenders.
“When you combine that with Jalen and what he can do with his feet in terms of extending plays and getting outside the pocket, I’m sure we’ll play some sort of read-option game and RPO stuff. So, the possibilities are unlimited.”
