Newcastle United will need new funding this summer.

Though FFP restrictions may limit what Newcastle can do in the transfer market at the end of the season, it would be folly to ignore the fact that Eddie Howe’s side requires more choices.

While the aim is that fewer players will lose time next season as a result of this season’s unrelenting injury crisis, few would argue that things have appeared a little monotonous at times.

Indeed, the forward line may require some repair.

Yankuba Minteh will apparently be judged on whether or not he is ready for Premier League football following a standout season with Feyenoord, but he may not be the only new face needed in attack next season.

Miguel Almiron, after all, has been linked with a summer move elsewhere. The same may be said for Callum Wilson.

Now a fresh name has surfaced as a possible target.

Newcastle now tracking move for Crysencio Summerville

According to Football Transfers, Newcastle are among the clubs interested in signing Leeds forward Crysencio Summerville.
There is still a chance that the Yorkshire giants will offer the 22-year-old a new deal if they win promotion from the Championship this season, but that has not deterred the interest.

Newcastle, Liverpool, and AC Milan are all reportedly interested in the Dutch winger, who has 17 goals and eight assists in 36 Championship appearances this season.

While Leeds will obviously want to keep him, the article states that his ongoing existence at Elland Road is far from guaranteed.

They also report that Newcastle is looking for a player that can play across the frontline, something Summerville is capable of.

Clearly, the winger has had a good season, which could culminate in a swift return to the Premier League.

That is not to suggest he has been faultless.

On Saturday, Coventry defeated Leeds for the first time in 2024, and analyst Jon Newsome blasted Summerville’s body language.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: “I believe Crysencio Summerville had one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen him play.

“His body language for 60/70 minutes was really poor.”
