Newcastle United scored four more goals at St James’ Park on Saturday, this time against Tottenham Hotspur, who were unable to respond.
Spurs were wasteful in front of goal, with Martin Dubravka having a quiet day courtesy to Timo Werner’s sloppy finishing and Eddie Howe’s tenacious defence.
Newcastle, on the other hand, were having a great time and could have had far more than four goals.
Alexander Isak scored two additional goals, putting pressure on Erling Haaland in the hunt for the golden boot, though the Nordic Cyborg did score again from the penalty spot against Luton.
Peter Crouch brought out the Thierry Henry comparisons
After the game, TNT Sports gushed about Isak, with Peter Crouch likening him to Arsenal star Thierry Henry. It is not the first time he has been compared to Henry, but his serenity in front of goal is remarkably similar.
“How many times have you seen Thierry go through on goal and panic? It’s the same with Isak; if he goes one-on-one, you can be confident he’ll score.
“He’s someone I just love seeing because he’s so cool when he gets in those situations; obviously, he cut Van de Ven up a few times today, and he just seems to make the right decisions all the time; when he goes one-on-one, he’s so calm and knows he’s going to score.
“Great feet and he just leads the line so well, it’s a difficult thing to do as a centre forward to lead the line on your own.”
Anthony Gordon praised Isak as a player and a person
Anthony Gordon added to the pundits’ plaudits, claiming that Isak is one of the best in the world.
“It’s difficult to convey; you don’t need me to tell you that he’s really talented and has the potential to be one of the world’s finest players.
“When he’s fit, he’s so amazing to play with; the assist I got for him, I simply handed him the ball and he sat a few men down, so it was all him. What a player—and, more importantly, what a person.”
