Wolves drew 2-2 at Nottingham Forest, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice on his first appearance back from injury.

Wanderers earned a point at the City Ground after coming back from behind in the second half.

Wolves took the lead in spectacular fashion when Matheus Cunha picked up the ball after a Jose Sa throw and went a long way down the left side before turning inside two defenders and curling a shot into the top corner.

Forest responded through Morgan Gibbs-White, who once again upset the traveling fans with his celebration.

Forest led 2-1 through Danilo, but Wolves showed good spirit in the second half, with Cunha prodding in his second of the day from close range.

The Brazilian’s return to the team was welcomed by Wolves teammates, particularly Pedro Neto, who had been missing him.

Pedro Neto and others react as Matheus Cunha scores brace for Wolves against Nottingham Forest

Cunha recently returned to Wolves’ lineup against Burnley and made a cameo appearance against West Ham United last weekend.
However, Gary O’Neil determined yesterday that he was ready to play for the first time since recovering from a’significant’ hamstring injury.

And the South American had a strong display, with Wolves likely to improve with a more experienced front up front.

Cunha’s first goal yesterday was simply spectacular. He had no right to score from where he took up the ball, especially with two defenders on him when he got to the box. On Sky Sports, pundit Clinton Morrison called it ‘amazing’.

Then he demonstrated good poaching instincts for his second.

He now has 11 Premier League goals this season and 13 in all competitions, a tremendous return from a guy who was previously questioned about his end product.

Following yesterday’s game, Cunha took to social media to deliver a message to fans, saying, “10th and 11th @premierleague.” Greatness in sports is founded on several hours of leisure time.

A number of Wolves players, including Diego Costa, reacted on the post.

Pedro Neto: ‘Vamoooosss (Let’s go) Cunhaaaa 😍’
Joao Gomes – ‘God is awesome bro, you deserve it’
Diego Costa: ‘🔥🔥👏👏’
Santi Bueno: ‘💪🏼❤️’
Max Kilman: ‘He is back 🔥’

What a boost it is that Cunha is back

Cunha has returned to Wolves with a bang, and with him, there is still a slim chance of playing in Europe.

The Brazilian has become such an important player for Wolves that his absence due to injury has severely weakened the team. With his incredible ball carrying ability and much improved finishing, Wanderers are noticeably superior when he plays.

Cunha’s return to Wolves has boosted the squad just when they needed it.

O’Neil’s side has struggled in recent weeks, but with the return of Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan, Wolves remain in contention for Europe.
