Newcastle United have a tough test at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night, as they meet in-form Crystal Palace in the Premier League – kick-off is at 8pm.

Eddie Howe’s Mags have their work cut out for them in South London on Wednesday night, as they face an in-form Crystal Palace side that has picked up six points in its past two games against top-half opponents.

Oliver Glasner will be seeking to make it three in a row, while Eddie Howe will be aiming to make it five games unbeaten for his team.

Newcastle has a strong advantage in terms of form and recent history, but neither will matter on the night.

Paul Merson can’t separate the two sides

Paul Merson has predicted the score for Sportskeeda and is unable to differentiate the two teams.

“Who was performing at the Crystal Palace the other day? They have three match winners in attack: Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Jean-Philippe Mateta, and I believe that is the strongest front three in the Premier League’s bottom half.

“Newcastle United would have considered this a winnable game a few weeks ago, but the situation has altered considerably. I expect the two sides to split the spoils in an intriguing game.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Newcastle United”

A win would keep Newcastle in the hunt for Europe

We certainly hope it will be an interesting game, but we could do without conceding two goals.

Newcastle have not conceded a goal to Crystal Palace in almost 500 minutes, and it would be great to keep that going.

After West Ham lost to Palace at the weekend, a defeat here wouldn’t be the end of the world, but Newcastle should maintain their present form to secure one of those European berths.
