The Burnley manager was pleased with his team’s attitude during their 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has issued a defiant Premier League survival scream before of his team’s match against Newcastle United at Turf Moor this weekend.
The Clarets drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Zeki Amdouni’s late penalty canceling out Antony’s opener for the hosts. Burnley have only lost one of their previous eight Premier League games, leaving them two points from safety with three games remaining.
Their next game is against Eddie Howe’s Magpies, who are also in good form, having lost only once in their last six before the March international break. While Newcastle competes for a top-six finish and a spot in next season’s Europa League, Burnley is eager for points to help their survival attempt.
They are now two points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, with the Clarets, Forest, and Luton Town vying for the two remaining relegation slots, Sheffield United having already been relegated.
Kompany saw plenty of positives in his side’s draw at Old Trafford and believes the ‘energy’ they shown is exactly what they need for their final three games, which begin against Newcastle on Saturday.
“If we come here and play Real Madrid, I might be debating who has chances,” Burnley’s manager stated. “For me, we had great opportunities, and we demonstrated team spirit. Burnley did themselves proud today. That is all that matters.
“The energy, the sacrifice as well from players for each other was there and for Burnley that’s massive.”
After meeting United, Burnley will travel to Tottenham before facing Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor on the final day.
