Given Marc Guehi’s uncertain future, Oliver Glasner appears to be on the lookout for a new defender at Crystal Palace this summer.

According to The Times, Manchester United and Liverpool are considering a £55 million deal for Crystal Palace’s No.6, as the Premier League’s elite display respect for our England international.

Of course, if Oliver Glasner loses a player as excellent as Marc Guehi this summer, Dougie Freedman will face a difficult task in finding a defender of comparable caliber.

Crystal Palace fans should be excited about a potential new signing.

Crystal Palace could sign Rio Ferdinand 2.0

According to the Telegraph, Crystal Palace will enter the auction to sign Maxence Lacroix this summer.

Glasner signed the Frenchman from Sochaux during his stint in the Bundesliga and is said to still hold great regard for the center defense.

Lacroix and the Austrian both helped VfL Wolfsburg qualify for the UEFA Champions League during their time in Germany, and the tall 24-year-old is anticipated to be on the shortlist if Guehi departs.

For those unfamiliar with the VfL Wolfsburg No.4, the Bundesliga’s official website has provided a useful comparison.

They compare Lacroix to Rio Ferdinand, describing the Crystal Palace target as a stylish defender who thrives on moving the ball forward with his strong dribbling and passing ability.

Speaking about his personal playing style, the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges native stated: “I’m pretty athletic, quick, and strong. I’m not horrible with the ball at my feet, and I can do whatever the coach wants of me. “That is the most important thing.”

Ferdinand was, of course, one of the best defenders of his period, having won six Premier League titles in 504 games, so this comparison should delight Crystal Palace fans.

What Oliver Glasner has previously said about Maxence Lacroix

As previously stated, Glasner has signed Lacroix before, and the 49-year-old appears to enjoy both the Frenchman’s character and his on-field performance.

The man from Salzburg has previously stated, “He welcomes me every day in German. I’m quite pleased with Maxence’s work.

According to The Sun, Lacroix – who is speedier than Michael Olise – is available for £30 million this summer because his contract ends in July 2025, therefore we might make a £25 million profit if Guehi leaves for a £55 million cost.

Keep a watch on this issue, since the link between Glasner and Lacroix adds intrigue to the transfer rumour.
