The Toronto Blue Jays may be ready to call it quits on their season as they continue to hover around the.500 mark.
According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet, if Toronto’s play does not improve considerably by the July 30 deadline, they will most likely trade some players. Starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, reliever Yimi Garcia, and catcher Danny Jansen are among the veterans that could be traded.
However, franchise pillars such as Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are anticipated to stay unless the Blue Jays are completely annihilated.
This would be a rather disappointing outcome for Toronto, given the team made the playoffs last year. They start play Thursday with a 35-39 record, good for last place in the highly competitive AL East. As things stand, they are 5.5 games behind the last AL Wild Card position.
The Blue Jays are still regarded as possible long-term purchasers, but their 2024 season appears to be heading nowhere.
