Three-star offensive lineman Michael Gibbs of Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard committed to North Carolina State on Sunday afternoon.

On the final day of the month, the Wolfpack added a huge exclamation point to a successful 30-day recruiting campaign.

N.C. State upset ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Duke to win a highly coveted in-state recruit. Michael Gibbs (6-4, 305), a three-star offensive lineman from Hoggard in Wilmington, North Carolina, committed to the Wolfpack on Sunday. Here’s everything you should know.

On Sunday, top-25 in-state player Michael Gibbs verbally committed to NC State, becoming the school’s first offensive line recruit for the 2025 cycle. Gibbs chose NC State over Duke and Virginia Tech, among many other options.

He is classified at 6’4 and 305 pounds by 247Sports, and while he plays tackle in high school, 247 considers him an interior offensive line prospect. But he appears to be a guy who could handle tackle at the next level, even if he isn’t exactly the right height for the position.

Gibbs is another example of how State’s early admission helped—the Wolfpack was his first power-conference scholarship offer, which may signify a lot, especially for in-state students (watch the end of the above video).

NC State has received 12 promises for 2025, with two-thirds coming in the last month. It’s June.
