Much has been written about the budding WNBA rivalry between Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese, both of whom have not-so-quietly broken records in their rookie seasons. After Clark and Reese were nominated to the 12-woman WNBA All-Star squad earlier this week, many fans speculated on how the two would play together after years of rivalry.

Reese’s old comment from October 2023 reveals that the then-LSU standout had hoped to hook up with Clark in the future, whether in the WNBA or elsewhere. “I love Caitlin,” Reese said. “We have been competing since we were in AAU… It was always fun and competitive. One day, hopefully, she and I will be teammates because she is a wonderful player, shooter, person, and teammate.”

The WNBA All-Star team will face Team USA, the United States women’s Olympic basketball team, in the highly anticipated All-Star Game on July 20 in Phoenix. “I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate, not even with USA Basketball or anything,” Clark said of Reese on Tuesday. “So, I know people are going to be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn’t take away from everybody else.”
