On Sunday night, the New York Yankees selected pitcher Bryce Cunningham of Vanderbilt in the second round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Cunningham excelled at Headland High School as a prep student.

Although Willis implies that the Rebels have the Stars, which is undeniable, I believe Rebels supporters are being unrealistic about what they took over from Alabama in Pete Golding.

During his collegiate tenure, Cunningham appeared in 46 games with 26 starts, compiling an 11-8 record and a 4.95 ERA. He gave up 135 hits, 75 walks, and struck out 168 batters in 160 innings pitched.

Cunningham recorded a 0.76 ERA in 46 innings pitched and struck out 77 batters in 2021 at Headland, earning him an All-State honor.

Cunningham, an Alabama high school or college player, was selected with the second overall choice in the 2024 draft. Ben Hess, an Alabama pitcher selected by the Yankees at No. 26, was the first.
