On Wednesday, the Connecticut Sun acquired Marina Mabrey from the Chicago Sky in exchange for Rachel Banham, Moriah Jefferson, and the team’s first-round pick in 2025.

This season, Mabrey started 24 games for the Sky and averaged 14 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. She was picked 19th by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2019.

”We are thrilled to welcome Marina Mabrey to the Connecticut Sun. Sun general manager Darius Taylor stated, “She is a player who we believe will give us an advantage in competing for a championship this year.”

“She possesses a competitive mindset, a scorer’s mentality, and the ability to make big plays. I feel Stephanie and her team will be able to use Marina in a variety of ways as we begin the second half of the season and continue our pursuit for our first title.”

The Sun are in second place in the standings during the Olympic break. Coach Stephanie White has stated that the squad requires more consistency on the offensive end, and Mabrey will give that.

The New Jersey native played one season in Los Angeles before moving to Dallas for three years. She left Dallas for Chicago last season.

“Marina has made a significant impact over the past two seasons with the Sky because of her scoring ability, playmaking, competitiveness, and commitment to the community,” Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca stated. “We are grateful for all of her contributions to the organization and wish her continued success in the league.”
