Juan Soto is having an eventful second half of the season.
An ugly image of New York Yankees star Soto went viral during Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. A Yankees teammate was taking an at-bat during the home half of an inning, and a promotional message regarding a “Juan Soto Figurine” giveaway could be seen in the background.
Unfortunately, home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott was in the perfect position to partially block the giveaway message. As a result, the first portion of the word “figurine” was covered over, as shown below.

The Yankees are unlikely to have much luck attracting fans to the stadium for such a gift. Even if they spin it as a pro-hydration push, it will still be a difficult sell.
Fortunately, the Yankees went on to win 6-1, with Soto hitting a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored, making it a very golden day altogether. Plus, no matter what happens with the Aug. 9 giveaway, it won’t be as hectic as the Yankees’ previous offer.
