According to Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk, South Carolina football has received a commitment from Miami Dade College receiver Ruben Jackson.

Earlier this week, the South Carolina football program lost out on 4-star wide receiver Malik Clark, a Rock Hill native who unexpectedly committed to the Florida State Seminoles rather than the in-state Gamecocks. Even without Clark, USC has three wideouts committed to the squad in the class of 2025: Jayden Sellers, Brian Rowe, and Lex Cyrus.

On Friday, another receiver elected to join the Gamecocks, and he will arrive in Columbia sooner than Sellers, Rowe, and Cyrus.

According to SportsTalk’s Phil Kornblut, Miami Dade College’s Ruben Jackson will enroll at the University of South Carolina and join the squad in the autumn. The Florida native will be a walk-on wide receiver. He began his career at Mississippi State before transferring to community college, playing at Georgia Military, and finishing his studies at Miami Dade.

Ruben Jackson, Glades Central, Wide Receiver

Jackson graduated from Glades Central High School in 2020 and was regarded as a 3-star talent. Though he has been playing collegiate football for a time, he will have up to two years of eligibility remaining due to a redshirt year in 2021 and the “Covid redshirt” in 2020.

Jackson is a slot receiver with good quickness, which he uses to get open. He is small (listed anywhere from 5’8″ to 5’11” and weighing less than 180 pounds), but he will add depth to a wide receiver room that lost six players to the transfer portal this offseason (Juice Wells, Landon Samson, Zavier Short, Kylic Horton, O’Mega Blake, and Kelton Henderson) and several others to graduation/the NFL (Xavier Legette, Ahmarean Brown, and Eddie Lewis).
