The Gators have done well in making a 2026 four-star defensive back feel like a top target.
J’Zavien Currence, a four-star defensive back from Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe, returned to the University of Florida for the first time this year after attending the team’s final game against Florida State last season. For the second year in a row, Currence attended UF’s Grill in the Ville recruiting picnic. This time, he had the opportunity to meet with some of the new coaching staff members, including Will Harris, the new defensive backs coach.

“Florida was a good visit; there was a good vibe in Gainesville,” Currence told Swamp247. “The whole event, Grill in the Ville, was enjoyable. I had a great time last year. It was fun to mingle with and talk to the other recruits while playing games. Most importantly, I’ll get to spend time with and talk to the new DB coaches on staff, Coach [Billy] Napier, as well as the current coaches.”

On Saturday, Currence loved spending time with Coach Harris and new assistant defensive backs coach Beyah Rasool. They’ve been communicating since June 15, and those chats have progressed to in-person meetings during his recent trip.
