Maryland football received a significant boost to its 2025 recruiting class on Friday with the commitment of four-star athlete Zymear Smith.
Smith, a rising senior, is listed as 6-foot and ranked as the No. 10 athlete in the country and the No. 7 player in Maryland by the 247Sports Composite.
Smith, who plays for North Caroline High School, has succeeded on both sides of the ball. As a running back, he had 71 carries for 609 yards and seven touchdowns, garnering all-state recognition. Additionally, he grabbed nine passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns.
On defense, Smith had 20 tackles, seven pass breakups, and three interceptions.
After an official visit to College Park, Smith chose to change his mind and pledge to Maryland instead of Alabama. With his acquisition, Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class currently has four four-star prospects.
