As the Syracuse Orange football team prepared for camp, they received some disheartening news.
Demetres, class of 2026, have committed Samuel revealed that he was switching to the Florida Gators and reclassifying for 2025. The four-star prospect was listed in the top 100 in the 2026 class by On3 and ESPN, and he’ll now be closer to home with the Gators.
Samuel recently returned from an official trip to Florida, which appears to have caused him to turn a new hue of orange and blue.
The Orange still has two verbal commitments for the 2026 class: four-star linebacker Izayia Williams and three-star running back D’Antae Sheffey. Syracuse has now lost four-star prospects in 2025 and 2026, which is regrettable, but there is still plenty of time for Fran Brown and his staff to make up the losses.
