Jayvon Gilmore, a Class of 2026 quarterback, knew he wanted to be a Razorback after just one visit, and he announced his verbal commitment on Thursday.

Gilmore, a 6-6, 195-pound prospect from Gaffney, South Carolina, limited his list to Arkansas, Louisville, North Carolina State, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech on June 28.

After his visit to Fayetteville on Saturday, he stated there was “no better place to be.”

“The culture and coaches,” he explained. “Really showed me that there is no better place than Arkansas.”

As a sophomore at Columbia’s Ben Lippen High School, he completed 118 of 226 passes for 1,767 yards and 22 touchdowns while also rushing 48 times for 112 yards.

Gilmore, who was accompanied by his mother on the trip, received his Arkansas offer from offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino on May 13.

“Absolutely amazing,” Gilmore described his friendship with Petrino, “truly someone I can be around and learn from.”

Petrino visited his school during the spring evaluation period, which began on April 15 and ended on May 25.

On3, 247Sports, and Rivals all evaluate him as a three-star recruit, with 247Sports ranking him as the nation’s No. 18 quarterback for the 2026 class. He is enthused about the chance to play in Petrino’s scheme.

“Very complex, a pro-style offense that fits my game and allows the quarterback to extend a play and use his legs,” Gilmore told reporters.

He also had positive things to say about assistant quarterback coach Miles Fishback.

“Totally a great guy and really knows how to connect with his players,” according to Gilmore. “Also a true guy who understands the game of football.”

Gilmore is the third commit for the 2026 class.
