According to ESPN, Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore is facing a possible punishment. The Michigan football program is being investigated for violating NCAA rules, according to papers obtained by the broadcast network. The NCAA issued a notice of accusations to the Wolverines for possible scouting policy violations.

This examination is related to a probe launched by the school last season, which forced then-coach Jim Harbaugh to miss the last three regular-season games. Michigan fired an analyst who was allegedly running an operation to steal play-calling signals from other teams.

Michigan football won the College Football Playoff despite the investigation. Both the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference investigated the program’s procedures at the time.

Moore is one of seven people involved with the Michigan football program in 2023 who have received a notice of allegations. Last season, Moore served as interim coach while Harbaugh served a self-imposed suspension. Moore, the Wolverines’ interim coach and now head coach, led the team to an unbeaten record. One of the triumphs came against longtime rival Ohio State. Moore was appointed head coach for a variety of reasons, including his performance as interim coach.

According to ESPN, the NCAA alleges Moore may face a show-cause penalty or punishment for his role in the alleged offenses. Moore, according to the network, collaborated with former analyst Conor Stalions to delete text conversations. Stalions is the individual who resigned while the investigation was ongoing last season.

Former coach Harbaugh is also mentioned in the notice of complaints. The NCAA accuses Harbaugh of committing Level 1 violations, the organization’s most serious transgression. Harbaugh departed Michigan after the season and now coaches the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. According to the NCAA’s notification, Harbaugh could face penalties for the violations if he decides to return to college coaching.
