Georgia is locked in a recruiting war for a top in-state prospect, who will make his selection on Saturday.
Jontae Gilbert, a four-star cornerback, is approaching decision day.

Gilbert’s recruitment process has taken a few twists and turns. It will now begin its next chapter as a commitment for his senior season.

Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and Georgia are the three colleges in contention.

Dawgs247 has spoken with Gilbert several times in the last couple weeks as he prepares for a decision.

What does the 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Douglass-Atlanta (Ga.) say will be his deciding factor?

“Honestly, I want to go where I can grow the most. I want to be a first-round draft pick. “I’m trying to get into the league,” Gilbert stated. “You want to have great relationship with coaches and development, so really that’s all.”

Here are his comments on all three programs.

NC State: “Look at what Coach Gibson is doing with those DBs. He’s very active on defense, which I enjoy. He views me as a safety, cornerback, and nickel, which is great. They have been recruiting me since ninth grade. They believe in me. I admire Coach Gibson and what he has done with that defense. They play aggressively, which I really enjoy.”

Georgia: “Really, you have to compete if you go to Georgia, which I really enjoy. I enjoy competing. Georgia simply has a lot of excellent competitors. Why not Georgia, you know? Coach Donte [Williams] has been recruiting me since he was at USC during my ninth school year. I have a terrific relationship with him and Coach T-Rob. Coach [Kirby] Smart has entered into the picture a lot, which is fantastic.”
