There has been a lot of chatter about improving the Notre Dame football offense. And that is coming from the players.
Remember when Gerad Parker was the offensive coordinator for Notre Dame football, and the optimistic among us expected his offense to start clicking at any moment? The offensive never quite clicked. Fortunately, Parker is now Troy’s problem.

The Irish replaced him with Mike Denbrock. That is a trade I will make every day, including twice on Sunday.

The most significant thing to note is that it looks that the participants are also pleased with the “trade”. Several Notre Dame football players have stated that Denbrock’s attack is diametrically opposed to Parker’s. Mitchell Evans was the latest player to do so, emphasizing how different things are this fall camp compared to last year.

Notre Dame football’s offense is quite a bit different in 2024

Mike Denbrock and the Future of Notre Dame's Offense

“It’s a lot different than last year’s,” Evans told reporters last week. “Last year, we huddled a lot and took it slowly. Denbrock is all about boom, boom, boom. “I like that.”

That’s definitely something Irish fans want to hear. However, it does indicate a change in the offense.

It’s also interesting that players are expressing things like this. They’re not publicly criticizing Parker, but it’s evident that many on the people team believed the offense was better than it appeared most of the time.

Notre Dame football offense looks to be better

Fans blamed Sam Hartman for not putting up high numbers. They expected him to bring his 40-touchdown arm to South Bend and ignite the offense. But that is not what Parker’s offense was designed for.

In contrast, Denbrock’s offense is designed to score. It’s designed for speed. And it’s evident that Evans believes he can produce big numbers in the attack. Riley Leonard can also do it. As can the rest of the wide receiver group.

This year’s Notre Dame football offensive has supporters pumped. More significantly, it appears like Fighting Irish players are really enthused about what they might be able to accomplish on their journey to the playoffs.
