By the time Notre Dame requested Jordan Gidron’s transcript, the 2026 South Carolina WR had to be optimistic about his chances of receiving an offer from the Irish.
“Carter Auman was the one who told me to call them,” explains Girdon, who presently has a 4.8 GPA.
“I spoke with their general manager (Chad Bowden) and Coach (Mike) Brown, and both said they loved my film. I just needed to acquire my transcript, so I mailed it to them.
It was no surprise that he received a response soon after.
“Then they called me back a little while later and offered me,” the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder recalls. “I was really excited, just happy for every offer, and that’s exactly what I told Coach Brown.
“It’s a consistently good team. When I was growing up, they were consistently in the Top 10 or on the verge of making the playoffs. “Getting an offer from a good team means a lot.”
Gidron has added Notre Dame to his offer list, which also includes South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Miami, LSU, Oklahoma, and Stanford, among others.
The Irish witnessed many of the same things that the other schools did.
“The speed and explosiveness, just getting the ball, breaking tackles,” says Gidron, who has run the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. “They said I’m a physical receiver.”
The Ridge View High School standout appreciated his first impressions of the Irish staff.
“Coach Brown was talking about just building a relationship and getting me up there and just making big plays,” according to Gidron. “It was definitely a good first impression.”
He plans to travel to South Bend for a game this fall.
“The schedule’s pretty tight right now, but we’re going to see if there’s any space to get to Notre Dame,” he jokes.
“I’d like to see the facility, the area that it’s in, see what kind of offense they run if we go to a game and see how the receivers do.”
He has already scheduled visits to Georgia, North Carolina State, and Auburn for the fall.
He’s previously visited Auburn, NC State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Florida State, all of which piqued his interest early on.
He is seeking for a program that will help him become the best player he can be.
“Just the ideal opportunity for me to advance to the next level in a comfortable environment with genuine interactions. “A place where I can grow.”
