New South Carolina football commitment. Keenan Britt (4-star LB/EDGE) led his Oxford High School team to a strong performance over the weekend.

South Carolina football received a pledge last weekend from athletic defender Keenan Britt. Britt, who can play EDGE, middle linebacker, outside linebacker, and almost any other front-7 position, chose the Gamecocks over the Auburn Tigers, Oregon Ducks, and Arkansas Razorbacks.

Just a week after committing to USC, the 4-star prospect demonstrated his abilities with a strong performance for the Oxford High School Yellow Jackets during the team’s preseason jamboree.

Britt ended the jamboree with double-digit tackles (most behind the line of scrimmage) and two sacks, including a strip sack in which he forced a fumble with a hit on the opposing quarterback and recovered the ball.

Britt’s tremendous performance reflects the type of player he is.

Britt, a hybrid EDGE/linebacker, has played all over the defense in high school and might add versatility to South Carolina’s football team. Britt will most likely start his career in garnet and black as a linebacker, but he might also be used as a situational pass rusher, especially if the Gamecocks stick with their 3-3-5 defensive system. He is listed at 6’2″ and 230 pounds, which is ideal for a linebacker, but if he grows further, he might play defensive end in the future.

This offseason, the Gamecocks’ defensive staff has made it apparent that they want to bring in hybrid athletes. Carolina has received commitments from athletic EDGE players Kobby Sakyi-Prah, Anthony Addison, and Jaquavious Dodd, large linebacker AJ Holloway, and Taeshawn Alston and Donovan Darden, who play between the two positions. While some of that group will be better suited to digging in the dirt and others to linebacking, there is a good chance that all of them will get some pass rush reps off the edge.

Britt is one of three athletes committed to the South Carolina football team in the 2026 class, along with linebacker Rodney Colton (who also possesses positional versatility as a defender who can play traditional linebacker or rush the passer) and offensive lineman Anthony Baxter.
