Auburn football’s acquisition of quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame appears more realistic by the day.
Auburn football is getting closer to acquiring quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame with each passing day.
Recruiting a quarterback for the class of 2025 has been and continues to be a lengthy process for the Auburn football program. At one point, it appeared the Tigers were all in on 5-star USC commit Julian “Juju” Lewis, but following his visit to the Plains, the excitement around the Georgia quarterback went down, and Auburn considered flipping KJ Lacey from Texas.
Over the summer, it appears that Auburn football has gone all in on luring 5-star quarterback Deuce Knight away from Notre Dame. Knight committed to the Fighting Irish in September of last year and had been a vocal recruiter for the team until this summer.
Knight paid a low-key visit to Auburn’s campus over Big Cat Weekend after much of the excitement had passed, and things calmed down when he didn’t flip. Earlier this month, Steve Wiltfong predicted that Knight would join the Tigers on On3 Sports, and Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee did the same today.
The quarterback has planned a return to the Plains with his family for the season opener versus Alabama A&M on August 31. Knight hopes to complete his recruiting soon, but he certainly wants to see the Tigers play before making a decision, according to Athlon Sports.
“Knight told 247Sports that he will be at Auburn for the Tigers’ season opener on August 31 versus Alabama A&M.
“Based on what we’ve learned, the purpose of the trip is to observe Auburn in action. He has seen everything he needs from Notre Dame and Ole Miss. He wants to make a decision, one way or another, in the coming weeks.”
Earlier this week, Ryan Ghea told the media that he speaks with Knight frequently and is actively recruiting him, with the goal of flipping the quarterback before the season starts. Nonetheless, we may not land Knight before his August 31 visit.
