The Kansas City Royals have placed outfielder Hunter Renfroe on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain and promoted top prospect Tyler Gentry.
Manager Matt Quatraro stated the injury was mild, prompting the team to take this preventive measure before Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
This is Renfroe’s second time on the injured list this season. He’s now batting.In 104 games, he has 237 hits, 12 home runs, and 47 RBIs. He had already missed nine games in June due to a bone bruise in his left foot.
Gentry is ranked as the Royals’ number 15 prospect. The 25-year-old right-handed hitter has played 105 games for Triple-A Omaha, hitting.256 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs. This will be his debut appearance in the Major Leagues.
