When the Boston Red Sox arrive at Citi Field on Monday night for a three-game series against the New York Mets, they’ll notice a familiar face across the field.

With September rosters expanding, the Mets promoted infielder Pablo Reyes to the MLB roster. Reyes has yet to play in the majors since being traded to New York by Boston in May.

Reyes had a few noteworthy moments in a Red Sox uniform during his brief stay in Boston, including his walk-off grand slam against the Kansas City Royals in 2023 and his time on the mound. The infielder appeared in 85 games over two seasons, batting.260/.312/.335 with two home runs and a.647 OPS.

The Red Sox will also face former Boston players J.D. Martinez, Adam Ottavino, and Jose Iglesias during the three-game series against the Mets. Boston returns to Citi Field for the first time since 2021, with both clubs hoping to make a run in their respective wild-card competitions.
