Jaxson Dart has been the driving force behind Ole Miss’s explosive offense this season, and he is being acknowledged for it.

He already made an impression in the team’s season opener against Middle Tennessee, completing his first 24 passes to break SEC and school records on September 7.

Dart’s performance surpassed the SEC record for consecutive completions to start a game, which had previously been established at 23 by Tennessee’s Tee Martin against South Carolina in 1998. In addition, the prior Ole Miss record of 19 consecutive completions set by Matt Corral versus Vanderbilt in 2020 was exceeded.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Dart had the longest streak in SEC history, with 30 consecutive completions over two games.

And, after a good performance against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, the SEC made certain to award him some hardware.

On September 16, the conference honored him Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading Ole Miss to a 40-6 victory over Wake Forest.

Jaxson Dart and the Ole Miss Rebels are on a mission

Dart ended the night with 26 completions on 34 attempts for 377 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also gained 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground on six rushes, cementing his status as the FBS total offense leader with an average of 408.7 yards per game. Dart leads the country in passing yards per game (390.7) and is one of just five active FBS quarterbacks with more than 8,000 career passing yards and 1,000 career rushing yards.

According to the program’s press release, Dart’s two passing touchdowns moved him ahead of Chad Kelly for seventh all-time at Ole Miss, with 51 touchdowns. In addition, his string of consecutive throws without an interception ended at 177, the fourth-longest in program history, surpassing Eli Manning.

Dart has worked hard to acquire this reputation, and he hopes to keep it going as Ole Miss faces Georgia Southern on September 21 at 7:45 p.m. ET.
