All eyes will be on a primetime game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in Week 5. The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs will be on the road, facing the No. 4 Crimson Tide.

Rece Davis, an ESPN college football commentator, presented the “College GameDay Podcast” before the game and revealed his prediction between Georgia and Alabama.

Davis considered Alabama’s chances of upsetting Georgia, but eventually chose the Bulldogs to overcome the Crimson Tide.

He feels Georgia has a “stronger team” from top to bottom and wonders if Alabama will be able to beat the Bulldogs after adjusting to new methods under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer.

“I’m picking Georgia, but I think Alabama fans will be heartened by the guys that they have assuming command after the reign of Nick Saban,” Davis informed the audience.

Davis said that DeBoer has coached in difficult games, having defeated Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks twice last season and succumbing to the Michigan Wolverines in the national title while he was leading the Washington Huskies.

DeBoer undoubtedly has expertise, but Davis believes Georgia is a different beast. He believes Georgia’s depth and SEC experience behind head coach Kirby Smart and quarterback Carson Beck will give them the advantage versus the Crimson Tide.

Beck entered the season as a Heisman contender, and he has shown to be one of the top players in college football, racking up seven touchdowns and 680 throwing yards with a 68.3 completion %.

The Bulldogs also have a chip on their shoulder after losing to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship last season.

Despite Alabama’s home field advantage, Davis feels the Bulldogs are primed to secure this victory and surpass the Texas Longhorns to become the nation’s No. 1 team on Monday.
