The Notre Dame football team undertook some serious recruiting during last weekend’s Purdue game, and it paid off handsomely.
While the Notre Dame football team was busy beating the Miami Redhawks, the coaching staff was working hard to prepare for the future. They continue to strive to find a wide receiver for the 2025 class, despite the fact that previous attempts have not gone as planned.

Antavious Richardson was watching as the Fighting Irish defeated the Redhawks 28-3, and he was impressed with what he saw.

“Everything went great,” the Greenville Georgia High School star told Irish Sports Daily earlier this week, following his visit to see the Notre Dame football squad.

“I had the opportunity to tour the campus and meet the athletes, as well as speak with the head coach and position coaches. I had the opportunity to bond with the players and coaches as well.”

So, how big of an influence did the visit have? It may have won the recruiting fight.

“They’re like my number one choice right now,” the three-star receiver said. “I’ve still got other places to go, but as of right now, they’re my top choice.”

One of the most intriguing aspects of Richardson’s personality is his desire to pursue a career after football. He understands that the Fighting Irish have an advantage over most programs.

“They have a high degree,” he replied. “If you say ‘Notre Dame,’ you’ll go a long way. That’s what I appreciate about Notre Dame outside of football; it’ll prepare you for life even if football doesn’t work out.”

Speaking of “working out,” the Notre Dame football team needs to wrap up its pursuit of Antavious Richardson. While he’s officially committed to South Florida, it’s evident he’s looking for other opportunities, and it appears like a Power 4 school trying so hard for his commitment could win the battle.
