The Cincinnati Reds made a significant hire on Thursday by luring Terry Francona out of retirement, and they celebrated with the ideal social media post.

Francona has agreed to become the new manager of the Reds. Shortly before they formally announced the news on Friday, Cincinnati’s social media staff tweeted two amusing posts on X.

For those who don’t understand the reference, the Reds were referring to one of the most popular videos of the past decade. The “put it in reverse, Ter!” video returns every year on July 4th, as it should.

Francona, 65, was last with Cleveland from 2013 to 2023, winning AL Manager of the Year three times. He stepped down after 2023 because to health concerns.
