The Notre Dame football team returns to the field this week, and they may have a new commit on the roster. The Irish may finally be on the verge of signing another wide receiver commit. They might also be pulling this from one of the ACC’s hottest teams.

Jalen Cooper had an Irish offer in August, and it appears that he is close to accepting it. Of course, if Notre Dame can persuade him that South Bend is the greatest fit for him, they’ll need to persuade the 4-star recruit that SMU isn’t.

Cooper is officially going to witness Notre Dame football up close this weekend. That means he’ll get to see an offense that has had a week to fine-tune its skills go up against a Stanford team that hasn’t been very remarkable this season.

Notre Dame currently has two wide receiver commits in the 2025 class: Jerome Bettis Jr. and Elijah Burress, and it’s evident they want a third. Logan might also play there, but it appears he will begin his career on defense.

It’s also feasible that the Blue and Gold will take a closer look at Cooper on offense. That could be one of the reasons he prefers the Irish to the Mustangs.

Cooper has stated that, while he remains committed to SMU, he is contemplating one other institution. That happens to be the Notre Dame football team. Now it’s a matter of bringing him to campus on Saturday, showing him what the program has to offer, and making a major push.
