The No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels faced a difficult scenario entering Saturday’s game, with many expecting an upset against a tenacious Arkansas Razorbacks club.
However, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart had other ideas, delivering an exceptional performance that silenced his detractors and pushed the Rebels to a decisive 63-31 victory over the Razorbacks.
Dart completed 25 of 31 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns, with a passer rating of 284.1 and an average of 16 yards per completion. He also contributed on the ground, rushing ten times for 47 yards and becoming the team’s leading rusher.Dart completed 25 of 31 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns, with a passer rating of 284.1 and an average of 16 yards per completion. In honor of his record accomplishment, the SEC named Dart the SEC Co-Offense Player of the Week for Week 10. He split the award with his teammate and wide receiver Jordan Watkins, who caught five touchdowns.
Despite receiving criticism for going out for Halloween the day before the game, Dart proved his detractors wrong with what many consider his best play of the season—and perhaps his whole college career.
Ole Miss’ success is dependent on Dart’s ability to lead, since he can compete offensively with any team in the country. However, the Rebels’ margin for error is razor-thin, and another loss might damage their College Football Playoff hopes.
If Dart continues to perform at this exceptional level, the Rebels might emerge as a strong force in the SEC for the next three games of the season, attempting to reach the College Football Playoffs for the first time since the playoff format was established in 2014.
